Penn State had a great day on the ground Saturday against Maryland.
Just how good was it? The Nittany Lions did something for the first time since Larry Johnson was taking handoffs.
Penn State’s 372 rushing yards were the most the program has had against a Big Ten opponent since the Lions racked up 390 yards against Michigan State in 2002 – Johnson’s final regular season game. Johnson ran for 2,087 yards that season when he was a Heisman Trophy finalist. He gained 279 against the Spartans and had four scores, as Penn State scored seven rushing touchdowns in a 61-7 win.
PSU's 372 yds rushing vs Maryland is its most against a B1G opponent since 390 vs MSU in '02 (the one that pushed Larry Johnson >2,000 yds).

The Lions weren’t quite as dominant Saturday, but Saquon Barkley totaled 202 rushing yards in a 38-14 win. Quarterback Trace McSorley added 81 yards on the ground.
The 372 rushing yards by Penn State are the most in any game in more than 10 years. The Lions rushed for 389 yards against Youngstown State on Sept. 16, 2006.
