Penn State wrestling just picked up another win, this time on the recruiting trail.
Jarod Verkleeren, the top-ranked 145-pound wrestler in the 2017 class, announced his commitment to Cael Sanderson’s program on Sunday night. Verkleeren was previously committed to Iowa State but was granted a release from his National Letter of Intent in March.
After a very long process I decided to continue my Academic and wrestling career at Penn State University. #WeAre ?

Verkleeren is a Hempfield, Pa. native and is staying in his home state to wrestle for the top NCAA program of the last decade. Penn State has won six of the last seven NCAA wrestling titles, including the championship in 2017.
Verkleeren won the Pennsylvania high school state title last year, and is considered the top recruit at his weight by InterMat.
