Having just one Big Ten representative in this week’s women’s lacrosse Final Four apparently wasn’t enough. So Penn State decided to crash the party with Maryland.
With the right to face the No. 1-seeded Terrapins in the Final Four on the line, the Nittany Lions went toe-to-toe with Princeton in an NCAA quarterfinal on Sunday. In a game in which neither team held a lead of greater than 2 goals, Penn State ended up on top, 14-12.

While the fourth-seeded Nittany Lions will face top-seeded Maryland in one semifinal, Boston College and Navy will play in the other. The all-Big Ten matchup will begin at 5 p.m. ET on Friday and the game can be seen on ESPN3. Boston College and Navy will follow at 7:30 p.m.
During the regular season, Maryland and Penn State met once, the Terrapins going into University Park and pulling out a 16-14 victory. The Terrapins are 21-0 on the season to this point, while the Nittany Lions own a 17-3 record.
