Penn State’s spring game is this Saturday, and head coach James Franklin has a challenge for the beat reporters who cover the team.
Instead of staying up in the press box, media members can have a more interactive experience.
Franklin told media at practice Wednesday that any reporter covering the Nittany Lions who is “interested in going down on the field in front of the 85,000 fans that we’re going to have and get you guys involved, catching punts, catching kicks, doing some things,” will be able to do so.

For those who volunteer, it’ll surely be an exciting and nerve-wracking time. Writing on deadline is one thing, but fielding a punt in front of 85,000 screaming fans is another.
“We thought that would be fun,” Franklin said. “And just so you know, I’m dead serious.”
