Penn State runs away from Purdue, 62-24
Penn State shook off its hangover and took care of business in a big way Saturday afternoon.
The No. 24 Nittany Lions pulled away from Purdue in the second half en route to a 62-24 victory in West Lafayette. Penn State is now 6-2, bowl eligible and on a four-game winning streak that includes last week’s triumph over then-No. 2 Ohio State. Saturday’s point total was the highest for the program in more than eight years.
First time #PennState has scored 60 since 66-10 rout of Coastal Carolina in 2008 opener.

Penn State was lifted by Saquon Barkley’s 277 yards (and his 81-yard touchdown) from scrimmage and a great final 30 minutes. The Lions outscored Purdue, 24-7, in the third quarter after going in the locker room tied at 17-17. Penn State did it by turning turnovers into points.
It started when linebacker Brandon Smith intercepted Purdue quarterback David Blough on the first possession of the second half. Penn State turned that into seven points when quarterback Trace McSorley found Chris Godwin for this second touchdown of the day.

Later in the quarter, Purdue muffed a punt and the Lions cashed in with another touchdown, this time by running back Andre Robinson. He was one of four different Lions running backs (Barkley, Miles Sanders and Mark Allen) to score in the game.
