Penn State received an addition to its secondary and ended its three-month commitment drought on Wednesday when safety/linebacker Brelin Faison-Walden committed to the Nittany Lions.
The 3-star safety from Greensboro, N.C. made his announcement on Periscope.
Faison-Walden is rated as the No. 32 safety nationally in the Class of 2017 and the No. 13 player in North Carolina. Faison-Walden was a popular prospect and received 21 scholarship offers, including offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Oregon and Tennessee. Faison-Walden could move to outside linebacker when he arrives at State College next fall.
His decision gives James Franklin nine commitments in his 2017 class, which currently ranks 45th nationally and 10th in the Big Ten. Faison-Walden is Franklin’s first commitment since April and the coach was certainly happy to snap the skid.
