Hippenhammer, a star at Fort Wayne (Ind.) Snider, is a 3-star recruit and the 7th-best player in the state according to 247Sports.com.
The Nittany Lions were favorites to land Hippenhammer, who took an unofficial visit to the school last month. He visited Iowa the following weekend.
A week later, Hippenhammer tweeted a picture of his official Penn State scholarship offer.

Beyond that, Hippenhammer held offers from the likes of Michigan State, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Indiana, Illinois, and Wake Forest.
With Hippenhammer’s commitment, Penn State now has the 19th-ranked class in the nation and 3rd-best in the Big Ten, behind just Ohio State and Michigan.
