How good is Saquon Barkley?
Depending on who you ask, you could get an essay worth of information as to just how spectacular the former Penn State RB is. But to keep it short, sweet and to the point, he may be the best player available in the 2018 NFL Draft.
According to Bovada’s most recent odds as to who the favorite is to go No. 1 overall in the upcoming draft, look no further than the guy out of State College.
Bovada has Barkley listed as +170 to be drafted first, while USC’s Sam Darnold is next at +280 and Wyoming’s Josh Allen follows at +350. The Cleveland Browns own the No. 1 and No. 4 picks in the upcoming draft, so if they wanted to draft a QB and the best player available, drafting Barkley No. 1 might not be the worst thing in the world.
The last time a RB was drafted first overall was in 1995 when the Cincinnati Bengals selected — ironically enough — Penn State’s Ki-Jana Carter. Prior to Carter, Bo Jackson was taken No. 1 overall in the 1986 NFL Draft.
