At least one outlet believes when it comes to college quarterbacks, Trace McSorley stands tallest.

Penn State Trace McSorley tops a college football’s best QB list

Penn State football is the No. 1 topic in We are… Awake every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across Nittany Lions sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Penn State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

The best in the game

Many publications have Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley as a preseason Heisman Trophy candidate.

USA Today’s Paul Myerberg took that a step further. He wrote that McSorley is the best quarterback in college football.

A return coming?

Manny Bowen has been in and out of the Penn State locker room during his time in Happy Valley, including suspensions for both the Rose Bowl and a portion of last season.

Now, Pennlive.com’s Greg Pickel speculates that Bowen, who is still enrolled at Penn State, might be closer to a return to the program. However, Pickel also notes the latest roster release from the school does not include Bowen.

A different approach

The success Penn State’s coaches have had in recruiting in Virginia is no secret anymore. So what sets the Nittany Lions’ staff apart from the rest of the programs chasing the same talent?

Pennlive.com’s Dustin Hockensmith writes Penn State has a different approach to Virginia, and a little back and forth has been going on among the coaches via social media, too.

Brightness everywhere

With all the regular-season success, recruiting success and bowl victories the last couple of season with James Franklin, there’s reason for continued optimism for Penn State fans.

Land of 10’s Tyler Donohue writes in his final mailbag that the future is indeed bright for those in blue and white.

Close to the end … maybe

Penn State legend Tamba Hali has had quite the NFL career. It may be over … or it may not.

Hali sent mixed signals about his career making the NFL media rounds on Wednesday, writes Arrowhead Pride’s Pete Sweeney.
