The Houston Texans have given coach Bill O’Brien a four-year contract extension, which will take him through 2022.
The Texans also announced that they have hired Brian Gaine as general manager, and his deal also takes him through 2022.
There was speculation about O’Brien’s future with the Texans after the team went 4-12 this season. However, this news puts those rumors to bed, as O’Brien will be in Houston for the next five seasons.
O’Brien has led the Texans to two AFC South titles (2015 and 16) and a record of 31-33 in the regular season. However, the Texans have only gone 1-2 in the playoffs under O’Brien.
Prior to Houston, O’Brien coached at Penn State from 2012-13, where he went 15-9 in 2 seasons.
