The field had been reported in September but it was made official on Monday. The games will be played Nov. 20-21.
The Nittany Lions have never played in the event, which has been staged annually since 2007.
Though the matchups haven’t been announced, it’s likely the Penn State-Pittsburgh rivalry could be a factor in the tournament. The Panthers beat the Lions earlier this season, 81-73, in the Never Forget Tribute Classic in Newark, N.J.
The Lions went on to finish the regular season at 14-17 and are the No. 13 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. They’ll take on Nebraska on Wednesday.
The Panthers finished the year at 15-16 and are the No. 14 seed in the ACC Tournament, facing Georgia Tech on Tuesday.
As for the other teams, Oklahoma State finished its regular season at 20-11 and Texas A&M finished 16-14.
Last year, Northwestern was the Big Ten representative in the tournament and played Notre Dame in the final, falling 70-66.
In previous years, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State and Rutgers have taken part.
