Penn State basketball bolstered its backcourt Friday with the commitment of point guard Jamari Wheeler.
Wheeler, a 6-foot senior from Live Oak, Florida, committed to Duquesne last fall but re-opened his recruitment in March. In addition to Penn State, he also had offers from Seton Hall, Auburn, South Florida and others.

Wheeler will suit up for the Nittany Lions this fall and back up rising sophomore point guard Tony Carr, who averaged a team-high 13.2 points and 4.2 assists per game last season.
Wheeler is the second member of Penn State’s 2017 class, joining forward Trent Buttrick.
