Penn State’s 2017 basketball class has another late addition.
John Harrar, a power forward from Wallingford (Pa.) Strath Haven High, announced his commitment to Pat Chambers’ program on Sunday night. Harrar is the third commit in the Nittany Lions’ 2017 class, and the second in three days. Guard Jamari Wheeler committed Friday.

The 6-foot-8, 230-pound Harrar was initially committed to play football for Army, as a tight end. Instead he’ll use his size on the hardwood with the Nittany Lions.
Penn State did not lose any players to graduation following the 2016-17 season, but three players did transfer: Guards Payton Banks, Isaiah Washington and Terrence Samuel. This opened up scholarships for Chambers’ program and resulted in the late recruitment of Harrar.
