Penn State fans haven’t forgotten about it. They don’t want anyone else to forget, either.
As ESPN was wrapping up coverage of Clemson’s 31-0 rout of Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday night, a Penn State supporter hoisted up a pro-Nittany Lions sign that showed up behind Rece Davis. And from the looks of it, they may have used a little creativity to get it all the way up into the camera’s line of sight.
The sign had the score from the Nittany Lions’ 24-21 win against then-No. 2 Ohio State on Oct. 22. The win helped Penn State win the Big Ten East title via tiebreaker and ultimately the Big Ten championship. But Ohio State got a spot in the College Football Playoff while the Nittany Lions finished No. 5, just missing the playoff and instead heading to Southern California to face USC in the Rose Bowl.
“WE ARE…” the sign concluded.

With No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Washington both getting routed on Saturday, the debate won’t stop: Should Penn State have gone to the CFP instead of one of those teams?
Nittany Lions coach James Franklin seemed to join the talk Saturday … but by not talking about it. Franklin instead tweeted “#USC” 20 times and then wrote “Control the controllables!”
