The Penn State-Pitt rivalry is certainly strong.
The Panthers beat the Nittany Lions 42-39 last September in the teams’ first meeting since 2000. Five months later, Panthers assistant coach Tim Salem took to Twitter to brag about the win Wednesday, showing off his new key chain charm that featured the score.
So naturally, Penn State fans responded back, replying to Salem’s tweet with their own version of how the charm should or could look.

Pitt actually pulled off two of the season’s biggest wins, beating the Nittany Lions early in the season then handing eventual national champion Clemson its only loss in November. But the Panthers finished only 8-5 and lost to Northwestern in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions regrouped from a 2-2 start to win the Big Ten Championship Game and earn a spot in the Rose Bowl. Though they lost to USC in a thrilling Rose Bowl, they finished 11-3 and ranked in the Top 10 of the final AP and Coaches Polls.
Penn State coach James Franklin also put together a top-15 recruiting class to best the Panthers.
Now the Nittany Lions hope to return the favor on the field when the rivalry continues in 2017. The Panthers are scheduled to visit on Sept. 9 in the Nittany Lions’ second game of the 2017 season. Penn State opens the season Sept. 2 at home against Akron.
