ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit liked what he saw from Penn State’s 56-0 win over Georgia State. So much so, he put the Nittany Lions in his top four.
Specifically, he put Penn State right at the No. 4 spot, which was where Herbstreit had USC in his top four last week.

Furthermore, and somewhat interesting to note, Herbstreit’s No. 4 spot for Penn State is just one spot above where he puts Alabama at No. 3.
After the first and second week of play, the Crimson Tide were Herbstreit’s No. 1 team. But, their drop to No. 3 could mean Herbstreit doesn’t have much faith in Alabama, which has only one win over a top-25 team.
Albiet that win over then-N0. 3 Florida State was impressive, the Seminoles haven’t played since that 24-7 loss. Should Florida State struggle in its next few games, that week 1 win might not look that impressive after all for Alabama.
Still, saying that ranking Penn State one spot above Alabama is a boon for the Nittany Lions might be an understatement. Especially how last they weren’t even ranked at this point of the season in 2016.
