For the second time in three seasons, former Penn State linebacker NaVorro Bowman has suffered a season-ending injury.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday night that Bowman, a member of the San Francisco 49ers, may have suffered a major injury during San Francisco’s 24-17 loss to Dallas.
The initial fear for #49ers LB NaVorro Bowman is that he tore his Achilles, a source said. He'll have an MRI tomorrow. Would be devastating.

And today, the 49ers made it official.

Bowman, a four-time All-Pro selection, will miss the remainder of the season.
The former All-Big Ten selection finishes the year with 24 tackles, an interception and a sack. Bowman missed all of 2014 while rehabbing from a torn ACL and MCL.
Outside of the 2014 injury, Bowman hasn’t missed a regular season game in his career. But he’ll at least miss the final 12 games of 2016.
