Penn State running back Saquon Barkley has done big things on the field for the Nittany Lions, and it’s earned him some very high praise from one NFL Draft expert.
Bleacher Report NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller said on Wednesday’s “Stick to Football” podcast that Barkley is the “best running back prospect in a decade,” as reported by SaturdayTradition.com.

Miller additionally wrote in his first 2018 mock draft that Barkley is “more Ezekiel Elliot that Leonard Fournette” and had Barkley headed to the New York Jets as the No. 3 pick overall. Miller added that Barkley is his early pick to win the Heisman Trophy this season.
Miller’s praise for Barkley isn’t unwarranted. Barkley recorded back-to-back 1,000 yard rushing seasons in his first two years at Penn State and was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year during the 2016 season.
Barkley is expected to declare for the 2018 NFL Draft once his junior season at Penn State is complete. Several mock drafts have him as a top-10 pick in the draft, including Sports Illustrated and Fox Sports.
