Penn State wrestling fans knew David Taylor was a star in college. He’s now proving that on a world stage.
Taylor was a star for USA Wrestling during the team’s run in the Wrestling World Cup, which ended in a dual team loss to Iran on Friday morning. Taylor was “unquestionably the wrestler of the tournament” according to Flowrestling, and he beat three Olympic medalists in two days during an undefeated personal run.
The most impressive feat for Taylor came in his final match, which pitted him against Iran’s Hassan Yazdani, the reigning Olympic gold medalist at 74 kg (163 pounds). But he was no match for Taylor, who pinned him on Friday.
