It’s early, but Penn State has the country’s No. 1 recruiting class for 2018. Don’t expect the optimism to change anytime soon.
4-star WR Daniel George visited the Nittany Lions on Sunday and seemed to enjoy the trip as he shared his thoughts on Twitter.
“Loving Happy Valley #WeAre,” George wrote late Sunday afternoon.
George, from Oxon Hill, Md., is rated No. 5 for Maryland by 247 Sports’ composite. He’s also No. 25 nationally as a wide receiver. 247 Sports’ crystal ball currently projects him going to Penn State at 100 percent. But he has not committed.

Penn State, which offered George in December, already has an 11-member 2018 commitment class. That includes a pair of 5-star recruits in Micah Parsons and Ricky Slade. The Nittany Lions picked up their most recent commit this past Thursday when 3-star LB Nick Tarburton chose Penn State.
The Nittany Lions’ 2017 class finished ranked No. 15 in the country, just a couple months after the Lions won the Big Ten Championship Game against Wisconsin. They also finished ranked in the top 10 in the final AP and coaches polls.
Now the Lions are in leading position for 2018 — and with George.
