Derrek Pitts, a 3-star safety/athlete, announced on Twitter that he’s decommitted from Penn State.
“I would like (to thank) Coach Franklin and his staff for giving me a opportunity to be committed to Penn State University,” Pitts started in his note.
Pitts continued by saying Penn State has a “great program” but he wants to reopen his recruitment and look at other options. Pitts is from West Virginia and part of the 2017 class.

Pitts is the No. 30 athlete in the nation according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings. He’s also No. 2 in West Virginia. He committed late July.
The 6-foot-1, 174-pound athlete is expected to eventually commit to West Virginia, according to 247 Sports’ recruiting experts.
