Here’s the full box score.
The Lions (24-13) and Golden Eagles (21-14) were evenly matched early on, trading 3s before the Nittany Lions took a 25-22 lead to end the first quarter. Penn State pulled away a bit in the second quarter and went into the break up 41-34. The Nittany Lions continued to build on the lead from there, going up by 14 in the fourth quarter before the home team fought back into it. Marquette did cut the lead to 3 points late but the Lions held on.
The 24 wins are the most for the Lions since going 27-11 in 2008-09 and only the third time they have eclipsed 23 wins in program history. They won the NIT in that 2008-09 season, the last time they were in the NIT.
