Wisconsin basketball will open the 2018 Gavitt Games with a matchup against Xavier. It will be the third meeting between the two teams in four years.
Xavier beat the Badgers, 80-70, in the 2017 Gavitt Games in Madison. Before that, Wisconsin’s Bronson Koenig ended Xavier’s season in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament with this buzzer-beater:

Wisconsin is coming off a 15-18 season. The Badgers’ biggest question mark is whether Ethan Happ will return to the team, but Wisconsin’s star seems likely to return. Xavier’s run as a No. 1 seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament ended in the second round in a loss to Florida State, and the Musketeers lose star scorers JP Macura and Trevon Bluiett, both of whom have exhausted their college eligibility.
