Well, this was awkward.
After Washington State’s practice on Tuesday, the team’s defensive coordinator, Alex Grinch, talked with the media for roughly six minutes. All was fine and well until the end.
Take a look at the video from essentially the 5:59 mark on:
As of a few days ago, the newest coaching rumor for the Buckeyes came in the form of adding an assistant for next season. Currently, teams are allowed nine assistants.
Next year, that will be bumped to 10, giving teams an extra spot. This is where Grinch comes in.
In regard to leaving the interview and saying thanks when asked the question if he will be at Washington State next season or not can’t leave a good taste in the mouths of Cougars fans. For the Buckeyes, however, it has to be quite humorous to watch.
Grinch is an Ohio native and grew up around Columbus. The Buckeyes having an extra space for an assistant coach next season just makes it even more plausible that they could and would pluck somebody from another school.
