SAN ANTONIO – With just about three weeks until a college decision has to be made, the toughest choice for defensive tackle Jay Tufele may be this: stay close to home or go away to school?
For the nation’s fourth-ranked defensive tackle out of South Jordan, Utah, both of those options are on the table. And in at least one case, perhaps the chance to do both. His final schools are Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Utah and BYU, and he’ll take three more official visits before making am announcement on National Signing Day.
On Wednesday, from the lobby on the fourth floor of the glamorous Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown San Antonio, Tufele spoke with Land of 10 about the choice he’s facing and his visits to Ohio State and Michigan.
Have the Buckeyes – and Larry Johnson – done enough to sway the 6-foot-3, 290-pound tackle? Only time will tell. Ohio State has two defensive tackles already committed for 2017 but would love to add another, and Tufele is at the top of its list, alongside Texas 5-star recruit Marvin Wilson.
