In an Ohio State defense loaded with star power, it’s defensive lineman Tyquan Lewis who stands out as one of the team’s leaders.
With Lewis already numbering among the team’s captains, Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer went a step further in praise for Lewis, saying he’s at the same level of toughness as former Ohio State linebacker John Simon and Gators quarterback Tim Tebow.
These comments came during Meyer’s weekly radio show and were documented by Eleven Warriors’ Dan Hope.
Urban Meyer says he puts Tyquan Lewis in the same category as Tim Tebow and John Simon as "three of the toughest guys I've ever been around"

Tebow needs no introduction in the sports world, while Simon’s toughness is well-remembered by Ohio State fans. The Youngstown, Ohio native won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2012 and recently signed a three-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts.
Meyer isn’t alone in praising Lewis’ toughness, as the graduate senior was also named a quarterfinalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy on Wednesday. The award recognizes performance both on and off the field, with integrity and tenacity among the qualities evaluated. Lewis also won Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year last season.
