Ohio State won’t have one of its defensive players on the field this fall.
Urban Meyer announced at Big Ten Media Days on Tuesday that redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Dylan Thompson has been ruled academically ineligible for the fall semester, according to Bleacher Reports’ Ben Axelrod.

Thompson missed the 2014 season with a knee injury, but he was expected to compete for playing time this season due to the Buckeyes’ loss of players to the NFL draft.
