Togiai is the No. 9 defensive tackle recruit and No. 126 overall player in the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite. The four-star prospect is Ohio State’s 21st verbal commit ahead of next week’s early signing period, and is Ohio Sate’s 19th blue-chip commit for 2018. Togiai is also the Buckeyes’ third recruit on the defensive line, joining Antwuan Jackson Jr. and Taron Vincent. The 4-star DT recruit is from Pocatello, Idah. He is the second-ranked recruit in his state, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Washington was Ohio State’s biggest competition for Togiai lately, with Chris Peterson’s Huskies owning the majority of 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions earlier this month before the Buckeyes surged ahead. USC and Oregon were also top contenders for his services.
Togiai’s commitment extends Ohio State’s lead over Texas for the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, per 247Sports’ composite rankings.
