Former Ohio State quality control assistant Joker Phillips is joining forces with Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell as the Bearcats’ wide receivers coach, according to Football Scoop.
Phillips worked for the Buckeyes program this past season after coaching wide receivers for the Cleveland Browns in 2015. Phillips also served as the head coach at Kentucky from 2010-12, compiling a 13-24 record in three seasons.
Fickell, who served as the Ohio State defensive coordinator from 2012-2016, was named the Cincinnati head coach on Dec. 10. He coached in the College Football Playoff semifinal, but has now clearly shifted his priorities to filling out his new coaching staff. Phillips is the first assistant at Ohio State to reportedly make the jump with Fickell.
