Ohio State hockey may have its own place to call home in the next few years.
Tom Knox of Columbus Business First reports that the university is considering building a 4,000-seat arena on the north end of campus. The men’s team plays at the 18,000-seat Schottenstein Center and the women’s team plays in the rink next to St. John Arena.
Ohio State is already building the Covelli-Jennings Facility, a smaller arena that will play host to the Buckeyes wrestling, volleyball, fencing and gymnastics matches.
Penn State is the most recent team in the Big Ten to build a new hockey rink. Pegula Ice Arena holds 5,782 and sells out routinely thanks to its smaller size.
