Five-star wide receivers Tyjon Lindsey and Trevon Grimes haven’t committed to Ohio State. But recent Buckeyes quarterback commit Tate Martell may have foreshadowed that the group could be teaming up in Columbus, Ohio in the not-so distant future.
Martell posted a photo on Instagram Saturday morning of himself, Lindsey and Grimes with the caption “The Future Trio!” Perhaps Martell knows something that the rest of the college football community doesn’t.
If Martell really is foreshadowing this potential trio, then it would be an enormous coup for Ohio State coach Urban Meyer. Grimes and Lindsey are both rated as top 30 prospects nationally in the Class of 2017. Lindsey is rated as the No. 4 wide receiver, while Grimes is rated No. 5.
The Buckeyes appear to be the favorite to land Grimes, a 6-foot-3 pass catcher from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The chief competition for Meyer is his former school, Florida, which remains in the mix.
Lindsey’s decision appears to be a bit more uncertain. Lindsey mentioned the Buckeyes and arch-rival Michigan in his top 10 back in March. That list also included Nebraska, Alabama, Oregon, USC, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Auburn, and Notre Dame.
It’s obvious Martell, the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, is doing his best to persuade these two star receivers into joining him in Columbus. That’s music to Meyer’s ears.
