Di Lorenzo and Kowase dropped the first set of the match 6-7 (6) before rebounding 6-4 in the second set and then 10-7 in the final set. The duo, ranked No. 18 nationally, won 19 straight matches en route to the title, posting a 23-1 record overall in the 2016-17 season.
Di Lorenzo, a sophomore and Ohio native ranked No. 1 in the 2015 recruiting class by tennisrecruiting.net, has enjoyed success beyond the doubles court with the Buckeyes. She earned a 1-seed in the 2017 NCAA Singles Championships and claimed two International Tennis Association titles in fall 2016. Di Lorenzo also became the first player in program history to earn All-America honors twice in her collegiate career.
