Ohio State currently sits No. 2 in the AP and Coaches Polls, one spot behind top dog Alabama. Thanks to a huge announcement on Tuesday, the national recruiting rankings now look that way, too.
The Buckeyes are no longer have the top 2017 recruiting class after 4-star OT Jedrick Wills committed to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday. That commitment propelled Alabama past Ohio State and into the No. 1 spot, according to 247Sports’ latest composite team rankings.
The Buckeyes have 17 commitments for their 2017 recruiting class, including five 5-star prospects and 11 4-star recruits. 247Sports still gives Ohio State the highest average ranking per committed player in the country.
Ohio State can sign up to 25 players for its next recruiting class. Alabama currently has 22 commits.
The Buckeyes had the No. 4 recruiting class in 2016, No. 7 in 2015, No. 3 in 2014, No. 2 in 2013 and No. 5 in 2012.
