It appears Gibson was suspended from the school, not the football team specifically.
The redshirt freshman is a former 4-star quarterback who was set to make the transition from QB to wide receiver after sitting out last season. He was expected to contribute in 2016.
Last year, a lack of confidence pushed him down the depth chart and pushed into his life away from football. He began to miss classwork and was suspended by the football program for an unspecified violation of team rules in October.
He was a phone call away from quitting.
Now, he’ll miss his second consecutive season.
Gibson three for over 4,000 yards in his high school career with 44 touchdown passes, 2,275 rushing yards and 28 scores on the ground.
He caught two touchdowns in the Ohio State spring game in April.
