The Ohio State Buckeyes knew they were making the NCAA Tournament thanks to winning the Big Ten Tournament.
In the final, the Buckeyes defeated Maryland, 79-69 to ensure their spot. Ohio State enters the NCAA Tournament with a 26-6 overall record and went 13-3 in Big Ten play.
The team’s first-round game will be against No. 14-seeded George Washington in the Spokane Region at 1:30 p.m. on March 17 in Columbus, Ohio.
Ohio State is winners of its last seven games and are 11-1 in its last 12. The Buckeyes suffered a three-game losing streak in the middle of January.
The team is led by Kelsey Mitchell, who averages 24.5 points per game. Stephanie Mavunga averages 16.5 points per contest, while grabbing 10.8 rebounds as well.
Four Buckeyes average at least 11 points per game this season and seven players average at least 18 minutes per contest.
George Washington is 19-13 going into the NCAA Tournament and got into the postseason by winning the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament. The Colonials finished the regular season with the fifth-best record in their conference and have gone 10-2 in their last 12 games after starting the season at 9-11.
