If you’re in the Columbus area and want to see Ohio State’s Olympians, you’re in luck.
The athletic department is holding a welcome back event for six athletes and a coach from Rio this upcoming Monday at 6 p.m. in the West Plaza of the Ohio Union. The seven expected to participate are:
- Mona Shaito (fencing)
- Dustin Tynes (swimming)
- Eleanor Harvey (fencing)
- Aina Cid Centelles (rowing)
- Lou Rosselli (wrestling coach)
- Nichelle Prince (soccer)
- Kyle Snyder (wrestling)
Snyder is the youngest American wrestler to ever win Olympic gold, as he beat Azerbaijan’s Khetag Gazyumov 2-1 in the 97 kg freestyle final. He’s also the first current Ohio State student-athlete to win gold in the Olympics since basketball player Jerry Lucas in 1960.
Prince also won an Olympic medal, helping Canada win bronze in women’s soccer. Canada beat Brazil 2-1 to earn bronze.
