One of the jewels of Ohio State’s recruiting class in 2017 is headed back home, as wide receiver Trevon Grimes is transferring to Florida.
Grimes’ transfer was reported by multiple outlets, including Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman. Grimes was a ranked as a 4-star recruit and the No. 13 wide receiver in the nation by the 247 Sports composite rankings, so this is clearly a significant talent leaving Columbus.
Florida coach announced the move on Friday afternoon.

Grimes returned to his home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. during the season to reportedly care for a sick family member. There’s no evidence his decision to transfer is related to that, but it is worth noting.
Grimes only recorded three catches for 20 yards during his freshman season, but losing him could be a blow to Ohio State’s depth and future at receiver going forward.
