Tyler Durbin lost his black stripe last week in thrilling fashion to officially become a Buckeye.
Now the walk-on will be Ohio State’s kicker for its Week 1 game against Bowling Green on Saturday. Starter Sean Nuernberger is “dealing with an injury,” coach Urban Meyer said Monday.

Durbin walked-on to the team in the spring of 2015 after playing soccer for two seasons at James Madison. He drilled a 62-yard field goal in practice to lose that stripe.
Nuernberger hit 13 of 20 field goals as a freshman in 2014, but lost his starting job during camp last season to transfer Jack Willoughy. He got it back before the Illinois game and went 3 of 4. He’s hit all 106 extra point attempts in his career.
