Ohio State reportedly offered Greg McDermott its head coaching job Wednesday night, but the Creighton head coach joined a slew of other coaches by indicating that he’s not headed to Columbus.
I'm blessed and honored to be the coach at Creighton…..and am looking forward to many more great years in Omaha! #rolljays

McDermott echoed Xavier’s Chris Mack, who shot down any Ohio State rumors with a similar tweet on Wednesday. Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg was also reportedly in contention, but he shot down those rumors only hours after they surfaced. Additionally, Arizona’s president made sure to throw water on the flames of any Sean Miller-to-Ohio State rumors, saying the Buckeyes would hire Miller “over my dead body.”
Current Buckeyes assistant Chris Jent remains in contention for the head coaching job, which he’s reportedly interviewing for. Beyond that, Ohio State’s search for Thad Matta’s replacement is ongoing.
The Buckeyes fired Matta on Monday after he served 13 years as Ohio State’s head coach. This came on the heels of a 17-15 season after which Ohio State did not make the NIT.
