Heaven help whomever stands between a superstitious athlete and his favorite set of digits.
As a senior wearing the No. 25 for Detroit’s Cass Tech in the fall of 2014, Mike Weber rambled for 2,268 yards and 29 touchdowns, averaging 10.1 yards per carry.
After a redshirt spell wearing No. 20 at Ohio State — somebody’s got his old number again.
And Weber sounds pretty dang stoked about it, too:

Now that particular No. 25 has a bit of a backstory — it had, until recently, belonged to senior Bri’onte Dunn, who was expected to compete with Weber for carries at the No. 1 tailback spot this fall. That is, until coach Urban Meyer booted Dunn from the program last month for “violation of team rules” — rules believed to be tied to an altercation between the veteran running back and his girlfriend.
What’s the old adage? When the Good Lord closes a door, He opens a number. And Weber sure didn’t waste any sweet time grabbing his preferred one back.
