Urban Meyer: ‘I can’t name a No. 1’ in Ohio State QB race

Urban Meyer says Ohio State’s quarterback battle is too close to name a No. 1 just days before the Buckeyes are set to play their annual spring game — which is sold out. Meyer said he couldn’t name a No. 1 — or even a No. 3 — in the three-player battle between Dwayne Haskins, Joe Burrow and Tate Martell.

“All three are close,” Meyer said Wednesday. “There are times you wish they would separate. … Some decisions are going to have to be made.”

Who will be Buckeyes’ leader in 2018?

Ohio State center Billy Price filled the role as the program’s heart-and-soul presence in the locker room during the 2017 season. That was evident in a video the Buckeyes showed off earlier in the week of Price making a promise to win Big Ten rings after Ohio State’s embarrassing loss to Iowa. So who can fill Price’s shoes in 2018? Land of 10’s Austin Ward said it could be a group effort from a few different veterans.

Tommy Togiai loses black stripe in near-record time

Ohio State freshman defensive tackle Tommy Togiai lost his black stripe Wednesday. Togiai, an early enrollee for the Buckeyes in the 2018 recruiting class, is the first freshman to lose his black stripe in 2018 and the second-fastest Ohio State freshman to lose his black stripe. Only wide receiver Austin Mack in 2016 lost his black stripe in less time.

Kelsey Mitchell projected as top-2 pick in WNBA Draft

Ohio State basketball star Kelsey Mitchell should hear her name early Thursday night in the WNBA draft. Mitchell, a 5-foot-8 shooting guard, scored 3,402 points in four seasons as a Buckeye — the second-most in NCAA history. Mitchell was projected as the No. 2 overall pick to the Indiana Fever in Land of 10’s latest mock draft. The 2018 WNBA Draft starts at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Inside Chris Holtmann’s stressful offseason

Ohio State basketball’s offseason started less than a month ago, but it’s already been a very busy one for Chris Holtmann. Ohio State has seen the departure of its best player in Keita Bates-Diop, landed a 5-star recruit, picked up a big transfer and gone after some graduate-transfer options. On top of that, Holtmann is dealing with some hair loss and a new puppy. Stressful, indeed.
