From one Buckeye great to another, Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer wished Earle Bruce a Happy Birthday on Thursday.
Bruce — who turned 87 years old on Thursday — visited the Woody Hayes Athletic Center in Columbus to celebrate his birthday, and Meyer made sure to take a picture with the Ohio State legend.
Meyer tweeted out the picture with a message:

“Great to have you here today Coach! Happy 87th Birthday to my great mentor and friend Earle Bruce!!”
Bruce — a former Ohio State player and coach — was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
Bruce first coached high school football before he was hired as an assistant coach at Ohio State in 1966, where he held that role until 1971. Afterwards, he coached at Tampa and Iowa State before returning to Ohio State as the head coach in 1979, after another Ohio State coaching legend, Woody Hayes, was fired.
Bruce coached the Buckeyes from 1979-87, leading them to four Big Ten championships in that span (1979, 1981, 1984, 1986) and an overall record of 81–26–1. He was awarded both the Big Ten Coach of the Year and the AFCA Coach of the Year in 1979 for leading Ohio State to an 11-1 season.
After Ohio State, Bruce went on to coach at Northern Iowa and Colorado State before coaching 11 seasons in the Arena Football League. He retired from coaching in 2004.
