Urban Meyer tops ranking of Big Ten coaches
Athlon Sports released its list of the top coaches in the Big Ten this week, and it’s not a surprise that Urban Meyer is No. 1. Meyer, who is 73-8 with a national title in six seasons at Ohio State, was ahead of Michigan State’s Mark Dantonio and Penn State’s James Franklin for the top spot. “Meyer has been a model of consistency and success at a high level since becoming a head coach in 2001,” Athlon’s Steven Lassan Sports wrote.
Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh checked in at No. 4 on the list. Here are the full rankings.

Vote for Ohio State’s male athlete of the year
Who was Ohio State’s best male athlete in the 2017-18 season? Was it Keita Bates-Diop, the Big Ten Player of the Year in men’s basketball? Was it Kyle Snyder, who won yet another national title on the wrestling mat? Maybe it’s long jumper Zack Bazile, who won an NCAA championship with a jump that set a program record?
Land of 10’s Ryan Ginn put together a poll to decide the top Ohio State male athlete from the last year. You can vote here.
NCAA announces new rules for transfers, redshirts
The NCAA announced a pair of new rules on Wednesday. One of the rules allows players who transfer to do so without being blocked by their current program or conference. The other rule changes how redshirting works in Division I football. Starting in the 2018 season, players will be able to participate in up to four games in a season and not use a year of eligibility.
