It’s not common for Urban Meyer and Ohio State to extend scholarship offers to high school freshmen. But Jack Sawyer, an in-state player in the 2021 class, received an offer from the Buckeyes on Friday during a visit in Columbus.

Sawyer is one of many promising prospects visiting Columbus this weekend, and it’s not a long trip for him. Sawyer is from nearby Pickerington, Ohio — about 20 miles east of Columbus — and he attends Pickerington North High School. He’s listed on 247Sports as a defensive end but that position could change.
Land of 10’s Ryan Donnelly broke down Sawyer’s recruitment last week.
Sawyer, a 6-5, 200-pound freshman, already holds huge offers from Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Maryland and Cincinnati. He could play linebacker, defensive line or tight end in college and seems like a near-lock to eventually receive an offer from the Buckeyes.
