Michigan ruins Big Ten’s perfect bowl season

The Big Ten was in line for a perfect bowl season. And then Michigan blew a 16-point lead. The Wolverines’ loss to South Carolina in the Outback Bowl was the only blemish on the Big Ten’s bowl record in the 2017 season.

The conference was 7-0 entering New Year’s Day, with three wins in New Year’s Six games as Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin all collected victories. But then Jim Harbaugh’s team coughed up a 19-3 lead over South Carolina. It was Michigan’s second bowl loss in as many seasons and made the program 8-5 on the season.

Ohio State players and coaches had some fun on social media after the Wolverines’ loss.

Looking at Ohio State’s 2018 quarterback situation

The Buckeyes are in the post-J.T. Barrett era. And now that his Ohio State career has come to a close, one of the Buckeyes’ most-pressing questions entering 2018 is who will be behind center.

Dwayne Haskins, who served as Barrett’s backup in 2017, is the favorite to land the starting job. But he’s not the only candidate. Tate Martell is ready to challenge Haskins and Joe Burrow for the starting job, Land of 10’s Ryan Ginn writes.

“I mean, what else would I want?” Martell said. “I didn’t come here to sit on the bench.”

Saquon Barkley explains NFL decision

Ohio State won’t have to game plan for Saquon Barkley again. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise as the Penn State star running back declared for the NFL draft on Sunday night.

Farewell Penn State, thank you for everything! #WeAre 🔵⚪️

Barkley is leaving college after three seasons. He ran for 3,843 yards and 43 touchdowns in that span, and Barkley won the Silver Football (Big Ten MVP) in 2017.
