Kerry Coombs writes farewell message
Kerry Coombs issued a lengthy and heartfelt message to many parts of the Ohio State family in his first statement since it was reported he was leaving the Buckeyes’ coaching staff. Coombs, who is joining the Tennessee Titans coaching staff under Mike Vrabel, posted a farewell on Twitter. He addressed Urban Meyer, other Buckeyes assistants, athletic director Gene Smith, Ohio State fans and the players.
“As I begin this new and exciting journey, I will work every day to make those that have impacted me proud of the manner in which I do my business,” Coombs wrote. “I will plant the Buckeye Flag hard in Nashville and do my best to represent the Great State of Ohio every day with my efforts. Thank you for everything you have given my family and me.”
Sorry for the delay in sending this letter Buckeye Nation, just wanted to wait until everything was official. #nowaytoputinto240wordshowIfeel #onceaBuckeye, alwaysaBuckeye #fearlesslybeyourselfbecausewhoyouareisgoodenough #hopeyoukeepfollowingmeasaTitan #TitanUp pic.twitter.com/0zymvav0D8

ESPN lists Taron Vincent as ‘instant-impact’ recruit for Ohio State
In the week leading up to National Signing Day, ESPN listed the pieces of the 2018 recruiting class who could have the biggest impact for each top 25 team next season. So who’s Ohio State’s “instant-impact” freshman? ESPN says it’s 5-star defensive tackle Taron Vincent.
The Buckeyes played 14 freshmen this past season, which tied a high for coach Urban Meyer at Ohio State. The team has a lot of youth returning, so there likely won’t be many spots with opportunities to get significant playing time. Vincent is a five-star and could work his way into the rotation along the defensive line.
Vincent is ranked as the No. 20 recruit in the 2018 class and the top defensive tackle. Here’s ESPN’s full list of instant-impact freshmen.
