Jerome Baker enters 2018 NFL Draft

Ohio State lost another member of its defense Monday as linebacker Jerome Baker declared for the NFL Draft. Baker was a strong piece in the Buckeyes’ front seven and was a semifinalist for the Butkus Award in 2017.

Baker is the third member of Ohio State’s defense to declare early for the draft in the last two weeks. He joins cornerback Denzel Ward and defensive end Sam Hubbard.

Land of 10’s Austin Ward broke down what Baker’s decision means for the Buckeyes.

In short, there wasn’t much Baker couldn’t do from his spot at outside linebacker to help the Buckeyes, and replacing his production is going to be critical as the Silver Bullets move on without him. Losing Chris Worley to graduation only complicates matters for Ohio State, which will need new full-time starters at both positions on either side of Tuf Borland in the middle.
