Chase Young looks ready to leap to stardom; Ohio State listed as early favorite vs. Michigan

Ohio State football is the No. 1 topic in Wake Up Sloopy most days — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Why Chase Young looks like he’s on his way to being a star

Chase Young likely won’t get as much attention — from other teams, from fans, from the media — as Nick Bosa in 2018. But the Buckeyes defensive end is on his way to stardom, Land of 10’s Ryan Ginn writes. Heading into to his sophomore year, Young has the talent and the blueprint to go from good to great.

“Chase is learning as he goes, trying to figure out, ‘What is my go-to move?’ To be able to do that on the spot, that is the progress. Joey [Bosa], he got it and the next year, it was done,” Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson said of Young.

Ohio State listed as 9-point favorite over Michigan

Las Vegas sportsbook South Point put out a list of early betting lines for some noteworthy matchups in the 2018 season Thursday. One of the most eye-popping numbers was the minus-9 beside Ohio State for The Game. In fact,  Urban Meyer’s team was the favorite in every game listed. The Buckeyes were marked as a 12-point favorite against TCU, a 1.5-point favorite at Penn State and a 6-point favorite at Michigan State.
