Dwayne Haskins listed as 30-1 Heisman shot
Very, very early odds have been listed on who will win the 2018 Heisman Trophy. A pair of Buckeyes were among the 21-player list released by Sports Betting Dime this week. Quarterback Dwayne Haskins — the favorite to take over behind center for J.T. Barrett — was given 30-1 odds, while defensive end Nick Bosa had 35-1 odds.
These odds will obviously change in the 7 1/2 months before the 2018 season starts, but Haskins should see his odds go up a little bit if he can win the Buckeyes’ job during spring practice. Bosa and Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver are the only two defensive players listed.
Georgia’s Jake Fromm is the early favorite for the trophy. The full list of odds can be found here.
Ohio State looks to keep perfect Big Ten record alive vs. Maryland
Ohio State is back in action on the basketball court Thursday night for the first time since knocking off then-No. 1 Michigan State on Sunday. The Buckeyes host Maryland (7 p.m. ET, ESPN2) as they try to keep their perfect Big Ten record alive. Ohio State (13-4, 4-0 Big Ten) needs a win over Maryland (14-4, 3-2) to keep pace with Purdue, the only other unbeaten team in league play.
“Our guys recognize that we need to prepare to be our very best. Continue improvement and growth, and hope the results take care of themselves,” Chris Holtmann told reporters Wednesday. “We’re going to stay committed to being in the moment and working together.”

Ryan Shazier visits Steelers practice
Ryan Shazier was able to visit his teammates at a Steelers’ practice on Wednesday. Shazier, who suffered a serious spine injury on Dec. 4 and had surgery a few days later, posted a photo of Instagram of himself on the sideline at Pittsburgh’s practice facility.
“Taking it day-by-day, but I’m far from done. The Lord has not finished his work yet,” Shazier wrote on Instagram. “I want to say thank you to the fans and Steelers Nation for the prayers. If it wasn’t for my family, friends and your prayers I wouldn’t be were I am now. They have lifted me and my family through this journey and I ask for you to continue praying for me, as I continue to work daily on improving my health.”
