Nick Bosa arrived at Ohio State with sky-high expectations, and so far he has lived up to the hype.
Analytics-heavy website Pro Football Focus graded Bosa highly all season, and last week placed the Buckeyes defensive end on its freshman All-America team.
According to PFF, he had an 83.5 overall grade and led all freshmen with an 81.8 pass-rush grade. Bosa racked up 7.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks in 314 snaps rotating behind starters Tyquan Lewis and Sam Hubbard.
Bosa was also named to ESPN’s true freshman All-America team. Of course, he still has a long way to go to match older brother Joey Bosa, who has been one of the NFL’s most productive rookies this season for the San Diego Chargers.
Another Big Ten freshman with a famous name also made PFF’s list. Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield Jr. — son of former Ohio State All-American cornerback Antoine Winfield — earned his spot with only five missed tackles on the season, according to PFF.
